The
Friends of the Library
The Friends
of the Library, founded in 1976, is a non-profit support
group that raises funds for the library. It’s sole
purpose is to enhance the quality of the Library’s
services and collections through its memberships and
fundraising activities. Money earned through these
activities is used to purchase additional books and
equipment.

The book
store offers a wide selection of "gently used" books at
very reasonable prices. The store is staffed by
volunteers, and all sales proceeds go to Library
support.
BOARD
MEETINGS
Friends board meetings are held on the second Thursday
of the month at 4:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Meeting
Room.
THE BOOKMARK NEWSLETTER
The Friends publish a quarterly newsletter. The
newsletter is mailed to all members.

BOOKS AS: MEMORIALS, TRIBUTES, ENDOWMENT
Here is your opportunity to give pleasure to others
while preserving the memory of a special person or
honoring someone you admire. Through the Friends
of the Winter Haven Public Library, Inc., you can
establish a perpetual Book Endowment, or donate the cost
of a single volume.

Are your
doing your Spring cleaning?
Bring your unwanted and slightly used books, VHS tapes
and music CDs, DVDs, and books on tape to the
Friends of
the Winter Haven Library Bookstore
(in the
same building as the Library)
Monday-Saturday
10 a.m. to
4 p.m.
All
proceeds from the bookstore benefit the Winter Haven

2009-2010 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The 2009-2010 Membership Drive is currently in full
swing. Please help us help the library by becoming
a member of the Friends of the Winter Haven Library.
Membership plans include:
$5 for 1 year
$8 for 2 years
$100 for Life
$25 for 1 year Sponsoring Membership
$50 for 1 year Sustaining Membership
Donations also accepted.
Make checks payable to Friends of the Winter Haven
Library, or just FOL.
Payment of the membership fee qualifies you to vote for
FOL directors at the annual meeting and support the
making of a better community library.
Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering
in the bookstore or help with the Annual Fun Run in
January.
FRIENDS OF
THE LIBRARY BOOK REVIEW CLUB
Join
us on the second Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. in
the Multi-Purpose Meeting Room for the Monthly Book
Reviews. The Friends of the Library have prepared an
exciting and diverse schedule of presenters and books to
be reviewed this season! Anyone interested in a fun and
lively discussion of literature is invited to attend.
Light refreshments will be served. We look forward to

ANNUAL MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION DRIVE
The annual “Be a LibraryYSweetheart” magazine drive is
held throughout the month of February. Patrons may
select a magazine from the Library's list and donate the
cost of that magazine, or make a contribution of any
amount. A list of magazines and the cost of each
is available in the Friends book store. Due to
space limitations, the Library requests that only
magazines on the list be chosen. For more
information, call the book store at 292-0540.

ANNUAL ROCK, WALK AND RUN
The
Annual Rock, Walk and Run race is held in Winter Haven to
benefit the Children’s Department of the Library. More
